February is Black History Month - Rosa Parks

Rosa Lee Parks was forty-two years old when she made history. She was sitting on the bus in Montgomery, Alabama, one day in 1955 when a white man demanded her seat. Mrs Parks refused, defying the rules which required blacks to give up their seats to whites. She was arrested and fined. Her treatment triggered a three hundred and eighty one day boycott of the bus system, organised by the Reverend Martin Luther King Junior. The Montgomery bus boycott marked the birth of the civil rights movement.

February is Black History Month - Malcom X

Malcom X has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history. He was an African American Muslim minister and human rights activist.

Hasta siempre Forges

Con motivo de la triste pérdida de Antonio Fraguas “Forges”, desde el IES Enrique Tierno Galván, distrito de Usera, queremos rendirle nuestro humilde homenaje.

Numerosos profesores y alumnos del centro propusieron en el 2013 al humorista gráfico Antonio Fraguas “Forges” como candidato a recibir el primer premio otorgado por nuestro periódico “Tierno y Bueno”.

Su contribución a la historia del pensamiento, la cultura y los valores asociados a la paz, el respeto por los Derechos Humanos y la libertad a través de sus viñetas y del humor, lo hicieron merecedor de este premio y muy especialmente para nosotros por su defensa de la educación.

Forges no solo aceptó venir a recoger el premio, sino que creo una viñeta para el centro. Durante la visita se mostró cercano, logró captar la atención y el cariño de todos nuestros alumnos con su humildad y su naturalidad.

Nuestro más sincero reconocimiento a su trabajo y a su persona y el mayor cariño y afecto hacia la familia en estos momentos tan difíciles.

The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein. First published in 1964, it has become one of his best known titles and has been translated into numerous languages. However, the book has raised controversy regarding the relationship between the main characters (a boy and a tree). Should it be interpreted as positive (generosity of the tree, selfless love) or as negative(selfishness of the boy)?

Publicada Convocatoria de becas para la participación en un programa intensivo de inmersión lingüística en inglés en España.

Beneficiarios:

• Nacidos entre el 1 de enero de 1998 y el 31 de diciembre de 2001 y estar matriculados en el curso 2017/18 en alguna de las siguientes enseñanzas: Bachillerato, Enseñanzas Profesionales de Música y Danza, Grado Medio de Formación Profesional, Grado Medio de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, Grado Medio de Enseñanzas Deportivas y Enseñanzas de idiomas de nivel Intermedio o Avanzado.
• Haber obtenido en el curso 2017/18 la condición de becario del MECD.
• Tener totalmente aprobado el curso inmediato anterior con una media mínima de 7.50.

Plazo: Hasta el 22 de marzo de 2018.
